After promotion to League One, fans of Burton and amongst others, weren’t expecting anything from them. However, they proved that with a little hard work and excellent team spirit, you don’t need to spend millions of pounds to gain promotion, and so it proved last season. While they may have gotten off to a slow start, they were quick to pick it up, even when Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink left halfway through the season to manage at QPR. The appointment of Nigel Clough was deemed to be slightly risky, even though he had a fantastic first spell in charge of the club back between 1998 and 2009. He guided them to a solid looking 2nd place finish, and beat the likes of Millwall, Walsall Rochdale and Gillingham who all looked more equipped to beat them to the final automatic promotion place. While they may not be set for big things again this season, they can and most likely will throw up a curveball to most teams.

Last Season’s Finish; 2nd (League One)

Predicted Finish; 24th
